CAF Champions League: We achieved a well-deserved victory against Medeama – Al Ahly coach Marcel Kohler

Al Ahly coach Marcel Kohler says his outfit achieved a well-deserved victory against Medeama in the CAF Champions League opener on Saturday.

The Egyptian giants defeated Ghana champions 3-0 at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo to begin the group stage in style.

The Yellow and Mauves held Al Ahly to a goalless draw in the first half of the game but the Egyptian made a strong case for themselves in the second half after cruising to a convincing win.

Goals from Kahraba, Hussein El Shahat and Salah Mohsen ensured Al Ahly secure maximum points at the end of the game.

“We started the match well. We created many chances, but we did not take advantage of them. We were supposed to score early, but we allowed the opponent to create chances in front of us.”

He added: "We suffered from sluggishness, slow rhythm, and losing the ball quickly. In the second half, the performance was much better, and we achieved a well-deserved victory."

Al Ahly will face Young Africans in their second group game of the CAF elite competition this weekend.
