CAF Women’s Champions League: Date for WAFU Zone B qualifying matches changed

Published on: 12 April 2023

CAF has amended the date for the WAFU Zone B qualification round for the 2023 Women’s Champions League.

The qualification for WAFU Zone B was initially scheduled to be played from September 10 to 25 but has now been dragged back to August 18 to September 3.

“The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has amended the dates for the 2023 TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League. The qualifying edition which was originally scheduled for September 10-25 will now take place in Cote D’Ivoire from Friday, August 18 to Sunday, September 03, 2023,” a communique from the Ghana FA said on Wednesday, April 12.

The communique added, “The seven WAFU Zone B Associations are expected to present their national champions to compete for a slot in the TotalEnergies Women’s Champions League. The countries include Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, and host Cote D’Ivoire.”

Ghana last year missed out on participating in the CAF Women’s Champions League after Ampem Dakoa Ladies failed to advance past the WAFU Zone B qualifiers.

However, Hasaacas Ladies represented the country in the first edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League and reached the finals.
