Chase Jones Attuquayefio’s Hearts of Oak record - Polo to Samuel Boadu

Ex-Ghana international, Mohammed Polo has urged Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu to set his sight on equaling or beating the record set by Cecil Jones Attuquayefio.

The late tactician in 2000 led the Phobians to win the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup titles.

Subsequently, Jones Attuquayefio’s unmatched Hearts of Oak side conquered Africa by winning the CAF Champions League.

For Mohammed Polo, that record is what current head coach Samuel Boadu should chase as he prepares to taste continental football competition for the first time.

“There is a record there. The late Cecil Jones has set the record and the mindset is that when a record is set somebody has to break it and those who are alive should be able to do it. The man is not around to break his own record so somebody [Samuel Boadu] has an opportunity and should be able to break it,” Mohammed Polo told Class FM in an interview.

The former Hearts of Oak forward added “That should be his [Samuel Boadu] aim because he has to improve beyond just winning the league double. It’s an opportunity for him…He shouldn’t limit himself. He should go in for the best.”

Coach Samuel Boadu this season has already won the Ghana Premier League title and MTN FA Cup.

Time will tell if he will be able to get close to the record set by Cecil Jones Attuquayefio decades ago.
