Chelsea 5-0 Everton: Outstanding Eden Hazard Helps Chelsea Ease Past a Shocking Everton Side

Published on: 04 November 2016

Chelsea took their unbeaten October form into November when they thrashed Everton 5-0 in a dominating performance at Stamford Bridge, with two goals with a minute between each other from Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso giving them an early lead.

A Diego Costa half-volley followed by another Hazard goal and a Pedro tap-in secured all the three points for the Blues after a night to forget for the Toffees.

Antonio Conte named an unchanged side, meanwhile Ronald Koeman made three changes to his Everton side, with ex-Manchester United man Tom Cleverley coming in for the suspended Idrissa Gana Gueye. Captain Phil Jagielka started in a back five, while Martin Stekelenburg returned in goal for the Toffees.

After the minute's silence to remember those who fought in the First World War, Stamford Bridge erupted, and so did the crowd - Everton players committing themselves in the tackle and conceding fouls early on, with both sets of fans anxious for the 90 minutes ahead.

Chelsea enjoyed the large majority of the possession early on and the pressure paid off when Hazard cut inside and his curling effort from the left-hand side found the far-right bottom corner.

Moment's later Spanish wing-back Alonso made it two, hitting home between the legs of keeper Stekelenburg after Pedro's inside pass missed Costa and found Alonso who didn't hesitate to make to 2-0 just under the 20 minute mark.

Victor Moses hit the outside of the post andCosta had a header sail over the bar just before Ronald Koeman had enough and broughtKevin Mirallas on for Bryan Oviedo in the 35th minute

With just a couple of minutes before half-time, Costa got his first of the evening, Nemanja Matic flicking on to find the Spaniard whose half volley found Stekelenburg's near post, to make it 3-0, but Costa could of made it four when his touch around Jagielka find himself through on goal, but he could only find the side-netting and it stayed at 3-0 for the rest of the half.

The second-half started how the second half finished,Chelsea dominating and Hazard got his brace after some great build-up play saw him weaving into the box and firing a shot past Stekelenburg's near post to make it 4-0 just ten minutes into the second half.

Stekelenburg denied Chelsea getting five whenCosta's spectacular bicycle kick was well saved by the Dutch keeper, but Pedro just a couple of minutes later made it five, tapping home a shot parried away by the Everton keeper to humiliate the defence once more as Everton fans flooded out the stadium.

From the fifth goal the tempo of the game went to walking pace, Chelsea controlled the game with ease with no real chances until the 80th minute when a corner found Luiz at the far post who hit a volley hard into the ground and it nearly bounced over the head ofStekelenberg, but he expertly tipped it over the bar.

But after the Luiz chance, they were no more big chances as it ended 5-0 and it's back to the drawing board for Everton who didn't have one clear cut chance all game and will have to do a lot of work during the international break to recover from this defeat.
