Chelsea Defender David Luiz Believes He's a Better Player Following Spell at PSG

Chelsea defender David Luiz hasclaimed he has returned to the Blues a better player after his spell with PSG.

The Brazilian moved to the Ligue 1 side in a £50m deal in 2014, picking up two league titles and two Coupe de France's before returning to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer. After an indifferent start, Luiz has received praise for his role in a three-man defence, with the switch in tactics from manager Antonio Conte giving the 29-year-old more freedom.

When asked whether he had returned to Chelsea a better player, Luiz told theEvening Standard:Yes, if not that means I'm going the wrong way. You need to be ready to improve every day and be available to do that immediately, from your first day. If I think I am the same player as many years before, this is not a good mentality.

I improve every day. It was a new league with a new philosophy [at PSG], different players and a different culture, so I was happy there. I won a lot and learnt a lot.

Luiz has taken on more responsibility since his move back to London, and has claimed he has matured as a player, while also praising his teammates for the smooth transition in tactics earlier in the season.

When you get older, you want to organise your bedroom more than when you are young, no? Luiz continued.

It's quite like this, just part of getting older.Everybody has understood the philosophy quickly, it's part of the changing dynamic of football.''
