The Daily Express says Chelsea want to sign Mahrez as Antonio Conte seeks to restructure his strike forward ahead of next season.
Chelsea will look to sell striker Diego Costa this summer.
The Blues have been linked with a number of replacement centre-forward for the Spain international.
And Mahrez, a transfer target of Arsenal, is also on the Stamford Bridge wish list.
Leicester are aware that their star man wants to leave and are demanding around £40million.
