Chris Hughton likely to use positions to pick players in the domestic league - Bashir Hayford

Bashir Hayford has stated that Black Stars coach Chris Hughton will likely compare position by position and not performance when the time comes for him to pick players in the domestic league.

Chris Hughton who was appointed in February has attended a number of Ghana Premier League games to monitor players in the domestic league.

According to GFA spokesman Henry Asante Twum, the former Brighton gaffer briefs the FA about his travels across the country to watch league games.

“If you are selecting a player it doesn’t mean you are selecting him into the team but you are selecting him for a position," Bashir Hayford told Radio Gold Sports.

“You already have the positions in mind and you already have their performance in mind so once he has the players in mind, he is going to compare position by position,"

“That is what will give him information to make a good choice,"

“It is not like somebody is good so he should pick him. If the fellow is good what position is he playing?

“If he is going to pick a midfielder against Mohamed Kudus and the player is better than Kudus why not but that is why I am saying that it is all based on positions,”
