Chris Hughton should be questioned if Salifu Ibrahim and Richmond Lamptey do not make Black Stars squad for AFCON – Charles Taylor

Former Ghana star, Charles Taylor has made a case for the inclusion of duo Salifu Ibrahim and Richmond Lamptey in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The two players were almost unplayable for Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko respectively on Sunday during the first Super Clash of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

Having been impressed by the performance of the two players, Charles Taylor insists coach Chris Hughton should be questioned if he does not include the duo in his squad for the 2023 AFCON.

“If we don't see these two [Salifu and Lamptey] in the Black Stars squad, then we need to question Chris Hughton,” the former Hearts of Oak star said in an interview with Angel TV.

He continued, “The two players have shown talent and quality and deserve a place in our national team.

The 2023 AFCON is scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.

The Black Stars will compete in Group B in the group stages.
