Ghana star Atsu calls on Newcastle United team-mates to build on Watford victory

Ghana forward Christian Atsu has asked his Newcastle United team-mates to build on the 1-0 win over Watford in the English Premier League.

The Magpies have been enduring a torrid season after picking just two points in the opening ten games of this season's campaign.

However, a 65th minute goal by substitute Ayoze Perez during Sunday's game changed the narrative for the first time this season.

It was their first victory of the season sparking hopes among the players that this is the turning point for their season.

Atsu, who warmed the bench for the Magpies, is delighted with the result but urged his team-mates to build on the result to avoid the relegation dogfight.

"Great result today, let’s build on this," the winger tweeted after the match.

Newcastle have moved to the 17th position with five points, one point above safety and will host AFC Bournemouth next week.
