Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President, George Afriyie has thrown his weight behind new Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.

Speaking to 3Sports in an interview, the experienced football administrator said although he admits the success of any coach is not guaranteed, he is confident the new Ghana head coach will succeed.

"For me, I have enough confidence in Chris Hughton. Yes, coaches can come and fail but let us do our part, appoint the right personnel and say we did our best. I have confidence in the coach," George Afriyie said.

The Ghana FA in February confirmed the appointment of Chris Hughton as the new national team head coach.

Next week, the gaffer will take charge of his first official match when Ghana takes on Angola in the next round of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Before the game against Angola, Coach Chris Hughton will be unveiled at a ceremony in Kumasi on Monday, March 20.
