CONFIRMED: I supported Ahmad Ahmad at the CAF elections-Kwesi Nyantakyi

The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has revealed that he supported the newly-appointed Confederation of African Football (CAF) boss, Ahmad Ahmad to begin a new era in the federation. Mr Nyantakyi stressed that his outfit decided to throw their weight behind the Madagascar Football Association boss to change the face of CAF. Ahmad defeated long standing CAF president, Issa Hayatou, after receiving 34 votes as compared to the incumbent's 30 during last Thursday 39th Congress in Addis Ababa. Ahmad's victory at this year's congress brings an end to Hayatou's 29-year reign at the helm of CAF after assuming offive in 1988. Speaking after his arrival at the GFA's scretariat in Accra, a cheerful Nyantakyi said "We were all in support of Ahmad to dethrone Issa Hayatou as the next CAF president and it happened". "It was the time to end an era by ushering in a new administration that can change the face of CAF for the next four years. The Wa All Stars bankroller took the opportunity to thank his Executive Committee members for supporting him to retain his seat at the CAF Executive Council. He stressed that every leader's time will sure come to an end at a particular time and advised the losing party to always take it in good fate when the time comes as he was ready to bow out when his time is due.
