Could a Joe Dodoo-Kenny Miller partnership fire Rangers to second place in Scotland

One of the main problems that Rangers have had on the pitch this season has been finding the back of the net, but their victory over Aberdeen gave Pedro Caixinha a glimpse of a strike partnership that may be worth using more often before the end of the campaign.

Before the clash at Pittodrie, few would have expected Rangers to come away with a 3-0 victory, and an even smaller number would have thought that that would be possible as the final 20 minutes approached with the game still goalless.

However, the presence of Kenny Miller and Joe Dodoo inspired the Gers to the emphatic win with the pair scoring the three goals between them.

Miller's contribution probably came as little surprise - he is the side's current top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership with his brace against the Dons taking his tally to eight for the season - but Dodoo's contribution would have been particularly pleasing.

The youngster has struggled to really establish himself since arriving at Ibrox last summer, and has only shown glimpses of the potential he possesses with Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, he not only scored the third goal but also set up Miller's second, proving once again that the pair seem to have an excellent understanding.

Back in November, it was Dodoo who scored twice late on to turn around the Light Blues' clash with Partick, and it was Miller who provided both goals.

It would be dangerous for Caixinha to get carried away after one recent victory, and he may want to keep using Dodoo as an impact substitute, but with neither Waghorn or Garner really cementing themselves in the Gers side, it may be worth the Rangers boss giving Miller and Dodoo more opportunities to play alongside each other as previous showings hint that it may give them a better chance of clawing back to nine points separating them from Aberdeen.
