Crystal Palace Defender Scott Dann Reveals Possible Cause of Hamstring Injury

Published on: 25 October 2016

Crystal Palace captain Scott Dann has revealed that an excessive amount of training and playing games could have led to the hamstring injury that has kept him out for four weeks.

The Eagles dealt well with the absence of Dann originally, winning away at Sunderland and holding Everton to a draw at Goodison Park. But since the recent international break, they have lost back to back games against West Ham and Leicester respectively.

AP: I think it might be a slight risk to start Scott Dann. I don't think the two other CBs deserve that either.

Speaking totheCroydon Advertiser, the 29-year old announced he is now close to areturn to action.

"I'm good and nearly ready now," Dann said."I started full training at the back end of last week and the game at Leicester was probably too soon to be involved.

"It was a Grade Two hamstring injury. I tried to push it for the West Ham game to see if we could get close, and it healed well but there just wasn't enough time.

"So I only returned to training on Thursday and Friday last week. I was out for four weeks and then to come back in for a couple of days' training was just that bit too soon.

"I haven't had a hamstring injury before “ I don't think I'm quick enough!I think it was more an accumulation of training and games continuously, and it just caught up with me.

"I was unlucky but I had to get on with it, I've worked hard to get myself back now and it's about getting a full week under my belt ahead of Liverpool and hopefully I'll be ready for Saturday."
