Dan Quaye blames Hearts of Oak’s heavy defeat to JS Saoura in CAF Confederations Cup on inexperience

Former Hearts of Oak defender Dan Quaye has blamed his former employers 4-0 humiliating defeat to Algerian club JS Saoura in the CAF Confederations Cup on inexperience.

The Phobians have been dumped out of the CAF Inter-Club competition after losing heavily to JS Saoura in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup play-offs on Sunday.

According to him, the club’s failure in Africa is as a result of inexperience and has therefore called on management to maintain the current squad for impact in Africa.

“I believe the boys did well because most of them have not tasted international football. During our time, some of us got the opportunity to feature for the youth national teams which build us in some way but the situation at the moment is different” he told Koforidua based Bryt FM.

“They have now tasted it and will build upon in subsequent Africa competitions. The humiliation bound down to inexperience. I believe if they are able to win this year’s league, they will be able to do well in next year’s Africa campaign”

“Management must maintain the boys for impact. If they want to go back to Africa, they should win this year’s league. Some of the players are young likewise the coach so, this is the time for them to forget about this failure and focus ahead” he said.

Hearts of Oak have had a difficult start to this year’s campaign losing one and drawing three out of the four matches they have played.
