In the realm of Ghanaian football, the recent performances of the two renowned clubs have ignited a fiery storm of criticism from a prominent figure.

Dan Quaye, a retired defender who played for Hearts of Oak and Black Stars, has raised his voice to slam both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, accusing them of severely letting down their devoted supporters.

Asante Kotoko who are the holders of the Ghana Premier League has failed to defend the title this season. The Porcupine Warriors are currently managed by assistant coach Abdul Gazale after Burkinabe coach Seydou Zerbo was sacked. Kotoko is sixth on the league table with 44 points.

Accra Hearts of Oak have also not performed well in the league this season. They are also managed by assistant coach David Ocloo after Serbian trainer Slavko Matic left the club. Hearts of Oak is fifth with 45 points.

“The two top clubs [Hearts and Kotoko] have disappointed Ghanaians and their supporters. When things are not going on well it will affect the nation," he told Ghanasportspage.com

"There are lots of players from Hearts and Kotoko who played for the national team in the past but the current local players are not proving. It is very sad,"

"We’ve been fighting to get at least three or four players to be at the national team but they are not helping themselves. I don’t know what is wrong with them,” he ended.
