David Moyes Recalls £5 Bet Made With England Legend During Scotland's Historic Victory in 1977

Sunderland manager David Moyes has revealed Scotland's historic 2-1 victory over England in 1977 won him £5 off former England superstar Kevin Keegan as a teenage youngster, theMirrorreports.

The two 'Auld' enemies will lock horns at Wembley yet again this Friday and the 53-year-old Scotsman will be in attendance to watch the hotly-anticipated World Cup qualifier.

And the former Everton boss has revealed he was at that famous Wembley night in 1977, with his father, Moyes Snr, who ran the coaches for Scotland supporters to travel down to London to watch the match.

The younger Moyes travelled with his father in 1977 and ended up sitting just behind the onlooking England stars who were not playing.

He said:I was in a seat in the stand. There was Keegan behind me and I remember Joe Corrigan. I was sitting near my dad.

Scotland were 1-0 up at half-time and Kevin tapped me on the shoulder and said ˜I bet you a fiver that England win'. I was a wee boy and a fiver was quite a lot of money, but my dad said, ˜Aye'.

And, as it was, Scotland won 2-1 and he handed the fiver over. He got up and left about two or three minutes before the end and he handed the fiver over. I kept that fiver for years!

And then I must have had a girlfriend or something and I took her out with it and Ispent it. That was it. I kept it for years, Kevin Keegan's fiver.

"Or maybe just because I'm Scottish!

I've spoken to Kevin about it, but, obviously, he can't remember me.

As for the present, Sunderland grabbed their first win of the season at the weekend, and Moyes will be looking to push on once the international break is over.
