De Laurentiis: Napoli already in talks for Genoa star

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed he’s already held talks with Genoa for Krzysztof Piatek, but warned he won’t be drawn into a bidding war.

The Polish striker has been a revelation since joining the Grifone from Cracovia, and his 13 goals in eight matches has made him a top target for all of Europe’s biggest clubs.

De Laurentiis confirmed Napoli are amongst the interested parties, but warned he isn’t willing to pay an inflated price for the 23-year-old.

“I’ve already talked to Preziosi and the player’s agent,” he told the assembled press at an event for Club Napoli Solopaca.

“We still have to talk with our coach [Carlo Ancelotti], who has a three-year contract that we’d like to make six.

“He can relax though as I’m in no hurry to run and I don’t want to be part of bidding war.

“That isn’t to take anything away from Piatek, but we have to see if he can put in the same kind of performances with us as he is with Genoa.”

Napoli currently sit second in the Serie A standings with 18 points from eight matches, six back of league leaders Juventus.
