Diego Costa & Willian Snubbed Bigger Money at Liverpool for Premier League Titles at Chelsea

Liverpool attempted to sign Chelsea pair Diego Costa and Willian before the respective players decided to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

According to theTelegraph, Liverpool contacted each player before they moved to Chelsea (Willian in 2013 and Costa in 2014). The Merseyside club reportedly offered the pair equal, if not better terms than what they signed for at Chelsea.

The pair played a pivotal role in Mourinho's 2014/15 Premier League winning side, and continue to be important to new manager Anotonio Conte. Although Willian has had to play second fiddle to Spanish winger, Pedro.

Costa has scored 17 goals this season as Conte's first choice striker, however Willian's season hasn't been so flavoursome. The Brazilian winger has only managed two starts in Chelsea's last seven matches.

With a combined cost of £62m, the pair could've made a real difference had they gone to Liverpool, but looking back now, it's unlikely that they have any regrets.

Chelsea are currently top of the Premier League by ten points with twelve games to go. Liverpool, on the other hand, have suffered a severe drop in form as they sit in fifth, 14 points away from the leaders.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, would probably love to have the two current Chelsea men at his disposal after a disastrous 2017 so far.

Had this scenario occurred 15 years ago, Liverpool would've surely beaten Cheslea to these signings. Oh how Russian money changed the Premier League.
