On Friday, CK Akonnor released a 32-man list filled with local players who are expected to camp ahead of the AFCON qualifiers.
In the list, three Division One League players were selected namely; Etti Evans of Accra Lions, Andy Kumi Francis of Unistar and Welbeck Takyi of Bofoakwa.
These three players were deemed to have impressed but there was one major exclusion; Jeff Tierro of Star Madrid.
The left back has accumulated three man of the match awards in five games this season.
Footballghana.com understands that a request was made to the Division One League board to select seven players for a potential Black Stars place.
Later, it was reduced to three. The three players selected were attackers and had scored a number of goals in the lower tier.
Due to this, a solid defender like Tierro was left out of the list. Hopefully, the trend changes to allow more defenders get plaudits.
