Real Madrid are closing on a deal for Valencia whizkid Rafa Mir.

El Bernabeu reports Real will sign Valencia's Mir in January.

The youngster is one of the stars of Los Che's academy and his contract expires in 2018. Florentino Perez is close to signing the player at a low cost, given his contract are so close to ending.

Mir, 20, is one of the players on the brink of the first team. However, due to his reluctance to renew, he's been left in Valencia Mestalla, where he's scored 15 goals in 17 games. Now he will have the chance to move to Madrid, where he will play for the second team in Segunda B.

Mateu Alemany, Valencia's sporting director, has not hidden Mir's intentions: "“With Rafa, there's a good understanding and we hope to find a good solution for everyone in the January window."
