Narteh Ogum led the side to Premier League glory in his first stint with the club during the 2021/22 season.

Addressing the playing body and the technical team at Manhyia on Monday ahead of the 2023/24 football season, Otumfuo charged the head coach to be more interested in building a team rather than seeking to win accolades.

“Don’t be anxious to win a cup with the Club. Instead, focus on building it. If the players are able to win a trophy, I am fine with it but don’t rush for a cup," he said.

"I will be glad if you win an African Cup but my focus is on the development of the club," he added.

Furthermore, Otumfuo asserted that the coach’s tenure would extend as long as necessary, contingent upon his fulfilment of the mandate to foster the club’s advancement.

He assured the coach of the necessary latitude to carry out his work effectively and imparted the same charge to the IMC.

Asante Kotoko are expected to begin pre-season today at Beposo ahead of the 2023/24 Ghana football season which get underway in September later this year.

The Porcupine Warriors will begin their campaign with a home game against Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Having finished at the 4th spot last season, Asante Kotoko will hope to improve their performance in the upcoming season.
