Emery takes realistic approach

Published on: 22 October 2018

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is refusing to get carried away by his side's recent good form ahead of Monday's home game against Leicester City.

The former Valencia, Sevilla and Paris St-Germain coach replaced Arsene Wenger in the summer and has guided the Gunners to nine victories in a row in all competitions.

They are 8/15 to make it 10 successive wins by beating the Foxes on home soil and 15/2 to triumph 2-1.

Arsenal will move level on points with Chelsea and Tottenham if they beat Claude Puel's team and are currently available at 6/4 to finish in the top four this season.

However, Emery has reminded Arsenal fans that their side lost to Manchester City and Chelsea in the opening two games of the season and has urged them to keep things in perspective.

"Manchester City and Chelsea were the first two games," he said. "Their qualities and performances are very, very high. But also we are doing things our way and we are improving things.

"We need to carry on finding our best individual and collective performance to stay close to them.

"But I say to you: we need to get better in a lot of things now. It is our best target now, don't stop. Think and analyse with the players to improve this."
