Newly promoted Serie A side Empoli wants to sign Ghana International Afriyie Acquah, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Currently, the 26-year-old midfielder has one year left on his contract with Italian side Torino and is likely to be handed a contract extension.

Empoli gained promotion to the Italian top-flight by winning last season's Serie B with a 13 points difference.

The Blues coach Aurelio Andreazzoli believes the former Palermo player will be key to side's chances of staying in the league with his vast experience having played for Palermo, Parma and Sampdoria.

Acquah was also loan to German side Hoffenheim in the 2012/13 season.
