Everton Boss Ronald Koeman Praises 'Big Personality' of Players After Late Win Over Arsenal

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has credited his players for showing "big personality" in their 2-1 win over Arsenal at Goodison Park on Tuesday night.

An 86th minuteAshley Williams header gave the Toffees all three points, after they had fallen behind in the first half to an Alexis Sanchez free kick.

And Koeman, while pleased with his side's impressive comeback, admitted he was concerned with the performance in the opening 20 minutes of the game.

"The first 20 minutes, that was really poor," he told BBC Sport - viaESPN. "We were very nervous and unsure. Every ball back. Mistakes and no aggression.

"After that we played face to face and showed unbelievable spirit to come back and we deserved the win. We were lucky in the last situation but we played great football and the support of the fans, it makes Goodison Park really difficult to beat us here.

"Sometimes it is difficult to understand why we start so poorly at the beginning. Of course there is some lack of confidence but show your personality. We showed big personality."

Match winner Williams dedicated his goal to the fans having made an error in the build up to Arsenal's first half goal.

"This was about trying to put things right," he said. "You heard the fans and how they responded. I was disappointed with the goal we conceded, I should have done better, so I was desperate to get one at the other end."

Victory -the Blues' first since October -saw Everton move up to 7th in the Premier League standings.
