Former Arsenal player Charlie Nicholas thinks West Ham paid too much for Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew.
Andre joined the Hammers from Swansea City two weeks ago for a club record fee of £20.5 million.
The price surprised some despite him impressing in the Premier League last season, and Nicholas says he feels the deal was a bit much.
“I thought it was a bit pricey but then again everything is pricey at the minute,” he told Sky Sports.
“He’s a decent player. He seems the type who, playing with better players, could get better again. There’s a lot I do like about him [but] it’s a lot of money.”
Ayew will make his debut for West Ham when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
