Ex-Chelsea Star Reveals His Preference for Liverpool Star Over Eden Hazard

Published on: 25 November 2016

As the season has progressed, one of the biggest debates to have opened up is the comparison of Liverpool playmaker Phillippe Coutinho and Chelsea workhorse Eden Hazard.

The Blues have fought their way to the top of the Premier League as things stand, with the Reds one point behind. In recent weeks, both clubs have been drawing admiration for their remarkable form.

Coutinho has been at the centre of everything good for Liverpool since the start of the season, but Hazard gave one of the most complete performances the Premier League has ever seen in Chelsea's 5-0 demolition of Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Craig Burley, who played for Chelsea for eight years, has weighed in on the argument by (perhaps surprisingly) selecting Liverpool's magical Brazilian as the player he would have in his team.

[Adam] Lallana is a big blow when he's missing, [Roberto] Firmino is a big blow when's missing, Mane's a big blow when he's missing." Burley remarked toESPN FC.

But you take this guy [Coutinho] out of the team and you take that bit of energy and quality in a tight game where he can do it on his own “ he doesn't need those other players."

The more cynical of fans might read between the lines and wonder if ex-Blue Burley is hinting that Liverpool's attack is more about one man than Chelsea's is.

"He can drop his shoulder, he can play three or four little passes and bang into the top corner. He is a big cog in this Liverpool side.

If you offered me any of the two players, I would probably take Coutinho “ if I was coaching. I just think he's got a better attitude.

That being said, seven goals “ Hazard has got, he's playing well, he looks happy and is playing in a side that are top of the league.

Are you as excited for the Chelsea v Spurs match as Eden Hazard?
