Former Ghana Football Association [GFA], George Afriyie believes anybody who will make the attempt to influence the decision of Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton, will be exposed.

The current leadership of the country’s football governing body led by Kurt Okraku has been accused of interference for the past years.

Hughton who is a former Premier League manager has signed a 21-month deal. In his first two games, Hughton recorded a win and draw against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] back-to-back games against Angola last month.

However, George Afriyie believes it will be tough for anybody to influence the decision of the 64-year-old.

He added that anybody who makes the attempt will be exposed.

“A certain Chris Hughton cannot be influenced,” he told Kumasi-based Sompa FM. “I don’t him but the English coaches have a philosophy and that was the reason we gave the Black Stars coaching job to Avram Grant.

“They believe they are managers and when they fail, they will be sacked.

“If anybody makes the attempt to influence the work of Chris, he will be exposed publicly,” he added.

Chris Hughton replaced Otto Addo who resigned from his role after the country’s early exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He is assisted by Didi Dramani and George Boateng.
