EX-Ghana goalkeeper Abubakari Damba lauds Kwesi Appiah’s inclusion of WAFU duo to Black Stars squad

Former Ghana goalkeeper Abubakari Damba has commended Coach Kwesi Appiah for his inclusion of WAFU stars Vincent Atinga and Isaac Twum to the 26 man squad for the World Cup qualifier against Uganda.

Head Coach of the Black Stars Kwesi Appiah handed debut call ups to the duo following their outstanding performance in the WAFU Cup of nations, which Ghana won after beating Nigeria 4-1 in the final.

Vincent Atinga earned praises for his solid performances in the heart of defence with Isaac Twum emerging player of the tournament with his phenomenal displays.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak coach praised Kwesi Appiah for inviting the two and indicated the Atinga was a revelation in the WAFU Cup.

“I must also commend him for recognizing the quality that the Wafu tournament produced.

“Vincent Atingah in my estimation was a revelation at the competition and so was Twum.

“Their inclusion is also based on the challenges the team faces as far as the composition of our line players are concerned.

“Based on that these two gentlemen have been added and it’s a step in the right direction,” he told Citi Sports.

The pair who play for Accra Hearts of Oak and Inter Allies will be the only home based players in the squad.

Atinga will be in the Hearts squad that will play Wa All Stars in the semifinal of the MTN FA cup on Sunday.
