Former Ghana President, John Dramani Mahama has extended solidarity to the people of Turkey after the devastating earthquake in the country.

In a short statement on social media, the leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) admonished Ghanaians to continue praying for Christian Atsu.

The experienced forward has been reported to be trapped in rubble after Monday’s earthquake.

“Let's continue to pray for our brother, Christian Atsu, and his club director. The city of Hayat is in the region affected by the earthquake. Let's continue to pray that God spares their lives,” John Dramani Mahama said in his post.

Since the earthquake struck, it has been reported that over 1,000 people have died.

There is an ongoing search and rescue mission to save as many people as possible.
