Former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has praised Mohammed Kudus’ goal against Manchester City as “the goal of every season.”

The Hammers faced Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on May 19 in their final game of the campaign, suffering a 3-1 defeat.

This match also marked David Moyes’ last game as West Ham’s manager.

Despite the loss, Kudus provided a moment of brilliance with a stunning overhead kick that temporarily reduced the deficit.

McAvennie, speaking to West Ham Zone, expressed his admiration for the quality of Kudus’ strike.

“It’s the goal of the season, the goal of every season, that is,” McAvennie said. “Considering that he’s done it himself, flicked it up. My God, what a goal.”

Kudus’ remarkable strike was his 14th goal of the season for West Ham across all competitions and his eighth in the Premier League.

With six assists to his name, Kudus has accumulated 20 direct goal contributions in 3,510 minutes of competitive play over 45 appearances.

This impressive tally underscores the 23-year-old Ghanaian’s successful debut season in English football.
