EXCLUSIVE: Alavés midfielder Mubarak Wakaso picks up an injury ahead of 2021 Afcon qualifiers

Ghana and Deportivo Alavés midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has picked up a fresh injury which is likely to rule him of Black Stars' 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.

The 29-year-old suffered a fracture in the metacarpus of his right hand, which ruled him out of his side's 4-2 defeat to Osasuna on Sunday in La Liga.

Wakaso is expected to undergo surgery on Monday to determine the extent of injury.

The former Celtic ace has been key contributor for Asier Geratino's side this season, missing only game through suspension.

His absence will be a huge blow for the El Glorisso, who are currently 16th on the league table, just two points off relegation

The injury is likely rule Wakaso out of the upcoming Afcon qualifiers.
