The Ghana Football Association [GFA] are set to miss out on Eddie Nketiah despite nationality switch talks, Footballghana.com understands.

The country's football governing body have held talks with the Arsenal striker and his representative to switch nationality to play for the West African country.

With the World Cup scheduled to kick off in less than two months, the Ghana FA were hoping to conclude talks with the former Chelsea academy forward but Nketiah is reluctant on switching nationality to play for the Black Stars ahead of the Mundial.

London-born Nketiah, 23, has played for England at the under-21 level and has been involved in all of Arsenal’s matches in the Premier League this season as they have set the pace at the top.

Nketiah speaking in an interview in August later this year said he is yet to decide on playing for the Black Stars.

"Yeah at the moment it is just focusing on the club and cementing my place here, contract situation has been most of my thinking.

"I think a point will come where I will sit down with my family hopefully in the near future and then make a decision. I haven't made up my mind yet so will sit down with my family and my team and see which is good for me.

Meanwhile, the Ghana FA  are still hoping to convince England forward Callum Hudson-Odoi to switch international allegiance and compete for them at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Ghana FA has successfully convinced five Ghanaian players of foreign descent, Inaki Williams (Atletico Bilbao), Tariq Lamptey (Brighton), Stephen Ambrosius (Hamburg), Ransford Yeboah ( Hamburg) and, Patrick Pfiffer to play for the four-time Africa champions ahead of the Mundial.
