Premier League giants Manchester United have decided to trigger a one year extension of Timothy Fosu-Mensah's contract, footballghana.com can exclusively report.

The 22 year old had just a few months on his contract but the Red Devils have given him another chance with the extension reaching 2021.

The Dutch born Ghanaian midfielder last played for United on the last day of the 2016/17 season and injuries have hampered his progress since then.

United have been doing some extension deals lately with Eric Bailly and Nemanja Matic seeing a two year and one year extensions respectively.

Fosu-Mensah started eight United games and made 13 substitute appearances under Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho but has not managed a single appearance under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. He has mainly played for the under 23s this season.
