Exco member Fred Acheampong tasked to act as leader of delegation for Black Meteors at U-23 AFCON

Executive Council (Exco) member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong has been appointed as the leader of the delegation for the Black Meteors for the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Ghana u-23 team is one of 8 teams that will be competing at this year’s edition of the continental showpiece which will also serve as an avenue for teams to fight for qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Ahead of the Meteors opening match of the tournament against Cameroon tomorrow, the GFA has appointed the Ashanti Gold CEO as the team’s leader of delegation.

The role was given to the vibrant football administrator on Wednesday and he is currently in Cairo to oversee the affairs of the team in the final hours of preparation.

Fred Acheampong will be in charge of the day-to-day management and welfare of the team and will report directly to the GFA which is now headed by President Kurt Okraku.

Besides playing Cameroon, Ibrahim Tanko’s Meteors will also come up against host nation Egypt and Mali who have all been drawn in Group A.
