Edward Affum, a former Asante Kotoko attacker who has also played for numerous Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs throughout his career, believes that the declining attendance at GPL match venues can be attributed to fans' unfamiliarity with the players.

Affum, who is well-acquainted with the local league, suggests that Ghanaian clubs should provide opportunities for experienced players to play in the league, as this would pique the interest of fans and entice them to return to the stadiums.

The Ghana Premier League has experienced a significant drop in fan attendance during the recently concluded season, a trend that has raised concerns among stakeholders in Ghanaian football.

In an interview with kyfilla.com, Affum voiced his observations, stating, "Now people don't go to the stadium because they don't know who they are going to watch. Instead, they opt to watch foreign leagues. We should stop retiring players early."

Edward Affum began his GPL career with Tema Youth from 2009 to 2011 before making a move to Asante Kotoko, where he secured a Ghana Premier League title.

In 2012, he joined Hearts of Oak, further adding to his experience and knowledge of the domestic league.
