Ex-Legon Cities shot-stopper Fatau Dauda has disclosed why Ghanaian clubs struggle to make an impact in the African club competitions claiming that these clubs sell their best payers before the competitions begin.
Ghana are one of the powerhouses of African football, having won the Nations Cup title four times, however, Ghanaian clubs have failed to replicate such feat in the CAF inter-club competitions.
In fact, looking back in the over four decades of Africa's Premier club competition, Ghana have only had three champions.
"It has been our problem on how to keep our quality players . But to go far at CAF club competition, you should be able to keep your best players to compete at the highest level," Dauda told Hot TV.
"Technically, Ghana has talents but lack facilities and good economical structure. They've (South Africa, Orlando Pirates) raised their standards to a level which makes their league attractive."
Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.
