The father of Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina admits his son is eager to play for the first team.
Mina arrived in January from Palmeiras.
"He's calm, in a good way, but eager to be given the opportunity to at least prove that he's good enough," Eulises Mina said.
"With all the respect that his colleagues deserve, he wants to play above any other to see if he is he equal to them, better or worse."
Barca coach Ernesto Valverde has suggested that Mina needs more time to adapt, acknowledging his talent but that he still lacks the time needed in order to be able to be considered a regular starter.
Eulises added: "He is used to hard work and it's what characterises him.
"Loved by people, he easily makes friends and his adaptation has been very good."
