Ghana FA Cup: We chose Sogakope for semis because TnA isn’t ready – Committee Chairman Wilson Arthur

The Chairman of the Ghana FA Cup Committee, Wilson Arthur, has clarified why the committee is choosing to host the semifinal games at the WAFA Park in Sogakope instead of the original venue.

The semifinal games for this year’s edition were initially planned to be held at the newly commissioned Tarkwa TnA Park, but Arthur said the facility could not be tested before the games, hence it isn’t ready.

He has now offered insights into the decision to head to Sogakope in an interview with Asempa FM as monitored by footballghana.com.

“The MTN FA Cup semifinal games were supposed to be played at the Tarkwa TnA Sports Stadium. The Western Region and the Volta Region were designated to host it this year and the Western Region won the bid.

“So we penciled down the TnA to host it subject to when it is ready. I spoke to officials at the Tarkwa Municipal Assembly and they assured me the place will be ready by March but is not ready.

“So it is now the prerogative of the FA Committee to choose a venue and the chose Sogakope.”

Dreams FC will take on Bofoakwa Tano while Nsoatreman FC face Legon Cities this coming Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
