Owner and bankroller of FC Samartex, Richard Duah Nsenkyire has called for financial assistance ahead of their debut CAF Champions League.

The Timber Giants will represent the country in the CAF elite competition after winning the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League for the first time in their history.

Despite the success, Nsenkyire expressed concerns about the sustainability of their upcoming African campaign if they were to rely solely on the Ghana Premier League prize money.

Samartex received GHC 500,000 for their victory, a sum that Nsenkyire believes is insufficient to cover the expenses associated with competing at the continental level.

Speaking in an interview, Mr Nsenkyire highlighted the financial challenges and appealed for support from various sectors.

“We can’t survive with this prize money for our Africa campaign. It can’t even pay our bills,” he stated, emphasizing the need for additional funding," he told 3Sports.

Mr Nsenkyire, currently on a fundraising tour, urged corporate bodies, individuals, and philanthropists to step in and assist the club as they represent Ghana on the African stage.

“We are representing Ghana in Africa and I expect all corporate bodies and all individuals, philanthropists, whoever, to come to our aid and help us push the agenda so that in the nearest future, our slot in Africa can be increased. When we do well, it affects automatically everybody in the football family,” he added.
