Fenerbahce Defender Simon Kjaer Slams 'Arrogant' Ibrahimovic After Clashing With Striker

Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer has blasted Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the pair clashed during the Europa League tie between the two sides on Thursday.

United found themselves trailing to a spectacular overhead kick from Moussa Sow in the opening minute and Ibrahimovic was sent on by Jose Mourinho after 30 minutes when Paul Pogba went off injured.

However, the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain striker did not enjoy the rub of the green and his frustration, which has grown steadily over the weeks as he's continued to fire blanks for his team, grew.

At one point, Ibrahimovic appeared to kick out at Kjaer as the duo chased down the ball. The striker then grabbed the defender by the throat before being pulled apart.

By lifting his hands, Ibrahimovic risked being sent off but the referee took no action and UEFA have reportedly decided not to retrospectively punish the 35-year-old.

"I wasn't surprised at what he did," the Danish defender Kjaer said.

"It's a football game and Zlatan didn't take me too seriously. I didn't get to hear what he told me but I know I was not happy. He is the typical chest-puffing kind of player and very arrogant on the field," he added.

"My way of playing is to mark him as tightly as possible and to give him as little space as possible, because he is a good player.

"It is a part of football and I don't take it too seriously. It is not the first time I play against him and I know how he reacts. It is not a problem. It is, like I said, a part of the game."
