FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP: Ghana draws host India, USA and Colombia in Group A

The national under-17 team, the Black Starlets have drawn host India, South Americans Colombia and the United States of America at the 2017 FIFA U-17 world Cup to be played in October.

The two times world Champions are returning to the global showpiece after a decade of absence. Ghana’s last appearance saw her reach the quarter finals.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s team will open their campaign against Colombia before renewing their rivalry with the United States of America in the second group game. The final game of the group will be against host India.

Ghana qualified to the World Cup after placing second at the Africa Junior Championships held in Gabon early this year. They beat the likes of Cameroon and Gabon but felt to the sword of Mali in the final.

Meanwhile, African Champions Mali will face Paraguay, New Zealand and Turkey in group B.

Guinea, who placed third in Africa are in Group C with European giants Germany, Costa Rica and Iran.

And Africa's fourth and final representatives, Niger- who are making their first ever appearance at a world stage- are in Group D with giants Brazil, European favourites Spain and Korea DPR.

Group A: India, USA, Colombia and Ghana

Group B: Paraguay, Mali, New Zealand, Turkey

Group C: Iran, Guinea,  Germany and Costa Rica

Group D: DPR Korea, Niger, Brazil, Spain

Group E: Honduras, Japan, New Caledonia, France

Group F: Iraq, Mexico, Chile, England
