Bayern Munich was successful in strengthening its striking firepower ahead of the start of the upcoming season by signing Senegalese forward Sadio Mane from Liverpool in a high-profile transaction.

The 30-year-old signed a three-year contract with the German club, which will keep him at the Allianz Arena until at least the summer of 2025.

Mane is not the only African player to have worn the Bavarian jersey; here are five additional African players who have played for Bayern.

Samuel Kufour

He began his professional career with Bayern Munich in 1993, and continued with him until his departure to Rome in 2005. Kufuor is one of the legends and symbols of the Bavarian giants, especially after he was one of the elements of the generation crowned with the Champions League in 2001, as well as winning the Bundesliga title 6 times.

Pablo Thiam

During Kufuor's time at the German club, a new African joined the Bavarian battalion, the Guinean Thiam, coming from Stuttgart in 2001. But the former Guinean midfielder did not enjoy a busy career with Bayern, so he left after only two years, during which he won a single title with the team.

Mehdi Benatia

Benatia, the retired Moroccan defender, was one of the elements of the team during the era of Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, who brought him from Rome in 2014. Although he was a key element in Guardiola's squad, Benatia did not last for more than two seasons before his departure to Juventus after winning the Bundesliga twice and the German Cup on one occasion.

Bona Sarr

On 5 October 2020, Sarr signed for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich on a four-year deal. Sarr made his debut for Bayern in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on 15 October and provided two assists to fellow new signing Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as the club defeated fifth division side 1. FC Duren by a score of 3–0.

Chopo Moting

He joined Bayern in the summer of 2020 also with his colleague Sarr, in a free deal after the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Chopo Moting has been playing the role of substitute for Polish Robert Lewandowski since that time, but he was influential on many occasions, which contributed to winning 4 titles with the team.
