Former Black Stars shot-stopper Fatau Dauda has consoled his former teammate Opoku Agyemang who has been struggling with injuries for the past nine years.

Agyemang was a key cog of the Black Satellites team that won the U-20 FIFA World Cup in 2009, beating Brazil on penalties in the final.

His impressive performances at the tournament saw him promoted to the Black Stars where he featured at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

He helped the Black Stars to reach the finals of the competition but lost narrowly to Egypt.

However, he has been blighted by fitness issues after suffering a cruciate ligament injury while playing for Al Sadd in the Asian Champions League.

Dauda, who currently plays for Legon Cities empathised with him and hope he recovers quickly.

"It is very painful. Injury is something that can lay a player off for a very long time," Dauda said on Citi Tv’s The Tracker.

"Opoku Agyemang is still very young because he was promoted by Coach Duncan along with the likes of Wakaso, Alhaji Saani, Daniel Opare and David Telfar.

"I am very sorry that injuries have sidelined him and he is unable to play because he is still a very young guy."

Opoku has previously played  for Ghana Premier League side Ashanti Gold SC.
