Former Ghana forward Augustine Arhinful wants Ghana FA to appoint new Black Stars coach on a long-term contract

Former Ghana international Augustine Arhinful has advised the Ghana Football Association to appoint Black Stars coach on a long-term deal.

The four-time African Champions are currently without a substantive head coach following the exit of Germany-based trainer Otto Addo.

The former Ghana midfielder announced he has stepped down as coach of the Black Stars to concentrate on his role as the talent development coach of Dortmund after the West African powerhouse were booted out of the mundial.

According to Arhinful, it will be prudent for the Ghana FA to appoint a coach on a long-term deal.

“Will Ghanaians have patience if a coach is appointed on a long-term deal, I am for it but will Ghanaians have patience?

“Between now and 2026, we should have a coach who will build a solid team for the country. If you give a coach a four or five-year contract and then gives him the support that he needs, h will build a team for the tournament ahead”

“These are some of things the FA must consider”

The Black Stars were eliminated after the first round of the tournament following a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay.

After defeating South Korea in their second group game, the Black Stars needed a draw or win against Uruguay to advance to the last 16 stage.

But the team failed to negotiate for points against their ‘enemies’ Uruguay.

Ghana made a strong start to the game, but fell apart after captain Andre Ayew missed a penalty in the 21st minute, a repeat of what happened in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
