Former Ghana star Abdul Razak criticizes GFA's alleged preselection of Otto Addo as Black Stars coach

Former Ghanaian football star Abdul Razak has openly expressed his discontent with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over what he perceives as a predetermined decision in selecting Otto Addo as the new coach for the Black Stars.

The Ghana Football Association initiated the search for a new coach after parting ways with Chris Hughton following a disappointing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign. Ghana exited the tournament in Ivory Coast with 2 points.

Despite receiving an overwhelming 400 applications for the role, reports have emerged suggesting that the GFA's search committee has already settled on Otto Addo.

Razak urged the GFA to take ample time in selecting the most suitable candidate for the role, emphasizing that Otto Addo's previous tenure with the team did not yield favorable results.

“If the FA knew they would appoint Otto Addo, there would be no need to open applications for the Black Stars coaching job. They treat the Black Stars’ coaching position as trash,” he told Akoma FM.

“Otto Addo led us to the World Cup, but nothing good came from it, so why him again?

“They (FA) should not try to dupe Ghanaians by opening the application when they considered appointing Otto, who knows nothing about coaching and has accomplished nothing. I will say it again that the GFA is treating the Black Stars coaching position like a refuse dump,”
