Former Red Luis Suarez Admits Teammate Dived to Win a Penalty Against Rivals Man Utd in 2014

Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted that Daniel Sturridge dived in a Premier League match against Manchester United to win a penalty in 2014.


The news comes as the Red Devils are being linked once more with a sensational transfer move and this time it's for the Barcelona hit-man Suarez, according to theDaily Mail.


The Uruguayan hasbeen on hot form since leaving Merseyside for Spain, scoring 63 goals in 72 appearances.

The move would be a controversial one, seeing how Suarez wasOld Trafford's number one enemy following the alleged racial abuse he aimed at former United defender Patrice Evra during a game - andthe Uruguayan's latest confession will perhapsstir any residualanger even more.


The 29-year-old has admitted - viahis new autobiography quoted inthe Sun-that former teammate Daniel Sturridge performed a simulation to win a penalty against United at Old Trafford in 2014 -leading to defender Nemanja Vidic beingsent off andultimately contributing to a 3-0 Liverpool win.


"I certainly didn't think we would get the one given to Daniel Sturridge," wrote Suarez.He threw himself down. But then it was such a good dive that even I thought it was a penalty.

When I saw the replay, I realised that Daniel was about a metre away from Vidic.


"I said to Daniel later, 'Can you imagine what would have happened if that had been me?

"He said, 'I felt him touch me', and started laughing."


Suarez was namedalongside his Barca teammates Neymar and Messi in the 30-man shortlist for the highly coveted Ballon d'Or, in which the former Anfield man is among the favourites.
