France Boss Didier Deschamps Urges Liverpool Defender to Find New Club

Published on: 05 November 2016

France boss Didier Deschamps has asked that Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho leave Anfield in the January transfer window.

Sakho has been sidelined by Jurgen Klopp this season after a string of off-the-pitch incidents. The defender was banned by UEFA late last season for failing a doping test, but things got no better for the former PSG manafter his ban was lifted - his pre-season ended up being quitethe mess after he arrived late for a flight to the US for a tour.

He also called the manager out via social media, an indiscretionwhich we can all imagine Klopp took very seriously.

Evidently so, becauseSakho hasn't made a single appearance under the German this season, and it seems that his time at Anfield is well and truly over.

There has to be another solution for him to find another club in the January window," Deschamps said, via theMirror.

OGC Nice striker Mario Balotelli has also urged Sakho to join him in France. Balotelli joinedthe French outfit on deadline day, and has already scored seven goals in eight appearances. Nice are now on top of the Ligue 1 table with a three-point gap between them and second-placed Monaco.

"I speak with him from time to time," Balotelli said. "I said to him: ˜What a waste a player like you is [sic]not playing'.

"He has to leave. I said to him: ˜If you want, come to Nice.' I am going to speak to him about it. In January, it would be good.
