Gattuso: AC Milan are in crisis

Published on: 22 December 2018

After a third match without victory, AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso has admitted that AC Milan could well be in a crisis.

The Rossoneri lost 1-0 on Saturday afternoon to Fiorentina, which followed two goalless draws with Torino and Bologna, respectively. And Gattuso now feels there is something missing at Milan, given Federico Chiesa scored with La Viola’s only shot on target.

“We can now talk about a crisis at Milan as we are unable to worry opponents,” Gattuso told the press.

“The numbers are those of a crisis, we have to find a sense of calm, and not go looking for people to blame, everyone has to take responsibility.

“When we tried to force things we lost out. The team gave everything they had.

“I am not one who is ever satisfied, and three weeks ago I was very happy, but now I’m not enjoying the current trend.

“I feel the pressure every day, it’s part of my job. Breaking tables and punching walls is useless.

“I can’t say anything about the players today, as a team we are alive, but we are going through a negative period. We are all in this together.”

Looking at individual performances, Gattuso was quick to state that the overall quality Milan have isn’t good enough.

“Laxlalt didn’t add too much when he came on,” Gattuso continued. “We lack quality players. It isn’t only Higuain who is to blame, we had four or five chances which we missed.

“This team can play better technically, but when chasing an opponent, there is nothing to say. We have to keep calm and get the players who are out, back, and we have to find tranquility.

“Higuain needs to start scoring goals, I’ve never seen a striker that doesn’t score goals. We need to give him the right opportunities.

“Right now we are in a bit of a mess. Playing football requires calmness and clarity, and right now we don’t have it. We have to stay calm and work earnestly.”
