GATTUSO: "WE CHANGED OUR ATTITUDE AFTER CONCEDING THE GOAL FOR 1-2"

Published on: 30 November 2018

Following the  5-2 home win against Dudelange, coach Gennaro Gattuso reflected on the game addressing the media at the press conference: "There is no such thing as easy games. These teams play with good intensity and struggle towards the end of the game. Players need to play with continuity to show their qualities. Bakayoko wasn't playing this well before and the same goes for everyone else. We did well because after conceding the goal for 1-2 we changed our attitude. I am pleased with the team's reaction. When we were behind we pressed them higher and we were running faster, it was a totally different attitude. When the score was 1-1 we understood we were hitting rock bottom. No-one has underestimated this game, we could have done better but I am happy with the final score".

The Rossoneri coach spoke also about the individuals: "I am happy for Mauri, I wanted to give him a starting berth but I then decided not to change too many men in midfield. He's one of those who trains better during the week. Calhanoglu should score more because he has enormous shooting skills and great technique. He should go for it, but he's a player who needs to be in his top form. He doesn't feel any more pain to his foot now. We have to thank him because he played even if he wasn't 100 per cent fit. Bakayoko picked up a knock in his instep, hopefully, it's nothing serious. Suso did well but I didn't dislike Halilovic's performance either".

On SUnday, December 2nd, Milan will play against Parma in the Serie A TIM 14th Round: "We first have to play against Parma and only after that will we focus on Olympiacos. There's still time, we are only focused on how to stop Parma's strikers. If we want to play in a 4 man defence we only have two centre-backs available, Simic and Zapata; whole if we opt to play 3 at the back we have more solutions. Decisions depend on the opponents we face. The most important thing now is that we charge our batteries".
