But the former AC Milan and Barcelona star is yet to live up to expectation as the club continue to struggle in the German Bundesliga this season.

Boateng has struggled with fitness since the start of the season and has been involved in five games. He is yet to score or assist a goal.

After seven matches, Hertha Berlin 14th position with just 6 points.

According to the 1991 FIFA World Player of the Year, the Ghanaian forward who was outstanding and a difficult character glory days are over.

"In Frankfurt he was four years younger. The time of Kevin-Prince, who was an outstanding player and also a difficult character, is over in my opinion.

"What role does Prince Boateng have? Should he lead the team on the field? Or in the dressing room? Is he the extended arm of the coach? These are all things that also concern the players or the team."

"There are too many question marks. There is sporting competence in the leadership, but I don't see a clear line. Where do you want to go?" And further: "Do you want to play forward, do you want to be good at the back? Do you want to play with a back three or four? That has now been changed again. I don't know what's going on, some players maybe not either. Hertha is not a unit; I lack faith there! " he added.
